Team India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal once again showed that he is becoming a trusted opener of India in Test cricket. He scored a strong innings of 87 runs on the first day of the second Test against England at Edgbaston ground in Birmingham. In this innings, he scored runs off 107 balls with the help of 13 fours and not one, but two big records.

The first record, which broke by Jaiswal, was the highest score of 50+ in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (ie SENA countries). With this innings, Yashaswi scored his fifth 50+ as an Indian opener in these countries, while Rohit Sharma has a total of 50+ scores in SENA countries. That is, Jaiswal has now surpassed Rohit in this list.

The second record was even more special. Yashasvi Jaiswal has now become an Indian opener to score the biggest score in Test cricket in Birmingham. He broke the record of 77 runs scored by Sudhir Naik in 1974. Naik’s record was persisted for 51 years, but Yashasvi made history by scoring 87 runs.
