Yasin Malik’s wife from Pakistan wrote a letter to Rahul Gandhi, asked for help regarding her jailed husband.
Islamabad. Mushal Hussain Malik, wife of jailed Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik, has written a letter to Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, urging him to initiate a debate in Parliament for her husband. About whom he claims that he can bring peace in Jammu and Kashmir. Malik, former assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on human rights and women empowerment, believes that Yasin Malik’s role is important in the ongoing peace process in Jammu and Kashmir. Their plight deserves immediate attention.
Yasin Malik’s wife Mushal Hussain Malik lives in Pakistan. Malik’s wife wrote that Rahul Gandhi, Yasin Malik can be a force for peace in Jammu and Kashmir if they are given a fair chance. He urged the Congress leader to intervene before Malik’s deteriorating health leads to irreversible consequences. She said that my husband’s ongoing treatment is no less than torture. I request you to help us in getting them justice.
In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, Mushal drew attention to the legal battles facing her husband. Especially in the decades-old treason case, in which the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has now sought the death penalty. Malik who has been at the forefront of the separatist movement of Kashmir. Currently involved in challenging NIA’s appeal for death sentence in the terror funding case.
The NIA charges stem from a 2017 terror financing investigation involving Malik as well as several others. In 2022, Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a trial court after being convicted of the charges. However, according to the wife, the demand for Malik’s custody and his death sentence is part of a broader political vendetta. He claimed that since 2019, the BJP-led central government has treated Malik inhumanely, adding that his cases have been motivated by cronyism.
