AI-generated photo and video backgrounds, AI video, and music search options will be available on YouTube in the coming months. YouTube introduced many features in the ‘Made on YouTube’ event. With the help of these new features, creators will be able to easily edit and share videos.

Dream Screen, a new generative AI feature has been introduced for YouTube Shorts. This will allow creators to add AI-generated video or image backgrounds to their shorts by simply typing an idea into a prompt. With Dream Screen, creators will be able to create new settings for their shorts.

The company also announced YouTube Create, a mobile app aimed at helping creators simplify video production on the platform. The app includes AI-supported features like editing and trimming, automatic captioning, voiceover features and filters, and access to a library of royalty-free music. The app is currently available in the United States, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Indonesia, India, Korea and in beta on Android in select markets including Singapore, YouTube Create is free.

Instagram reels will face tough competition
The announcement of the new features also comes as the YouTube vertical faces stiff competition from ByteDance’s TikTok and the Meta platform’s Instagram Reels to gain more share of the short-form video market. YouTube said it now gets more than 70 billion daily views on Shorts, and the new generative AI tool aims to attract even more users and creators and gain a competitive edge over its rivals.
