Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born in Budhana, a small town in Muzaffarnagar district. After graduating in science from local college, he worked as a chemist in a petrochemical company for some time. Nawaz moved to Mumbai after graduating from NSD. Nawazuddin made her Bollywood debut in 1999 with a small role in Sarfarosh starring Aamir Khan. He did a short film The bypass in 2003, in which he appeared alongside actor Irrfan Khan. He was unemployed between 2002 and 2005. Anurag Kashyap’s presence in Black Friday (2007) paved the way for other powerful roles. His first lead role in the feature film was in the kite of Prashant Bhargava, which was premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, for which Nawazuddin’s acting was praised by the world famous film critic Roger Ebert. In 2009, he appeared in a cameo role in the hit song ‘Emotional Atrocities’ of Dev D film, in which he worked with his partner Rasila as Rangeela. Aamir Khan Productions had a journalist in Peepli Live (2010). The film first recognized him as an actor. The same year, the biopic directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, Paan Singh Tomar played the role of police informer Gopi.

After the film Kahani (2012), Nawaz became famous in the house, in which he played the role of an irritable police officer Khan. After this, Gangs of Wasseypur further enhanced his fame. He played his first lead role as Sonu Duggal in Ashim Ahluwalia’s Miss Lovely, which was premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, a role that Nawazuddin described by Nawazuddin as his most real performance ever. Nawazuddin appeared in Aamir Khan’s search in 2012. Gangs of Wasseypur is considered a film to define Nawazuddin’s career, in which he played the role of Faizal Khan, the second son of Sardar Khan played by Manoj Bajpayee.
