125th birth anniversary celebration of Utkal Keshari Dr. Harekrishna Mahtab today, President Murmu will be the chief guest.

New Delhi, 21 November (HS). The 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Utkal Keshari Dr. Harekrishna Mahtab will be inaugurated today at Vigyan Bhawan at 11:30 am. President Draupadi Murmu will be the chief guest on this occasion. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will be prominently present on the occasion. Bhartrihari Mahtab, MP from Cuttack and son of Dr Harekrishna Mahtab, will also be a part of the event honoring the influence and legacy of the Lion of Odisha.

According to the Culture Ministry, a special commemorative postage stamp and coin will be released at the event.

Sahitya Akademi, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, has prepared a monograph in Odia, English translation of Gaan Majlis and Hindi translation of Gaon Majlis for release during the programme. Besides this, the Culture Ministry will organize an exhibition on his life and legacy.

Dr. Harekrishna Mahtab was born on 21 November 1899 in Agarpara, Odisha. Smriti Shesh Dr. Mahtab is a versatile leader of Indian history. He is known as a freedom fighter, politician, historian, writer, social reformer and journalist. Dr. Harekrishna Mahtab is remembered for his strong will, determination and influence. This earned him recognition as one of the foremost leaders of the state.
