965 corona cases were reported in Singapore last week
New Delhi: Corona cases are continuously increasing in Singapore. In the last one week, 965 corona infected people have been identified here. In the previous week, 763 cases of corona were reported here. During this period, the number of patients admitted in intensive care units i.e. ICU has increased from 23 to 32. According to reports, most of the new cases are infected with JN.1. This is a sub-form of the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.86 of the corona virus. Quoting experts, the report said that the cases have increased due to winter weather and people not wearing masks.
WHO announced 'variant of interest'
The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the new sub-variant of Corona, JN.1, as a 'variant of interest'. It was also said that this does not pose much danger to the people. WHO said that considering the data and circumstances received so far, the global public health risk of JN.1 is currently considered to be low. Let us tell you, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that based on the information received so far and international-domestic data, there is no clear indication that BA.2.86 or JN.1 are more infectious than other variants or cause more serious disease. Could be the reason.
First case of 'JN.1' found in India on December 8
Earlier, the first case of 'JN.1' in India was found on December 8 in a sample taken from a 79-year-old woman resident of Kerala. Earlier, a traveler from Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu was found infected with the 'JN.1' variant in Singapore. In the last one week, this new sub-form has been found in all the samples of patients who came for genome sequencing, which is currently promoting infection in more than 40 countries of the world. Also, Corona is increasing in 11 states of the country. Due to this, the government on Monday has instructed the states and union territories to monitor the situation.
