Asian Para Games: India created history, broke its previous record in terms of medals

New Delhi, 26 October. Indian para-athletes on Thursday won 79 medals at the ongoing Asian Para Games, surpassing their record of 72 medals at the 2018 Asian Para Games.

India has won a total of 79 medals so far which include 18 gold, 21 silver and 39 bronze. Nitya Sare created history by winning 73rd bronze medal in badminton women’s singles SH6 event.

On the fourth day of the competition, Sachin Khilari won the first gold medal of the day for India in the men’s F-46 shot put by creating a new record with a throw of 16.03 metres, while Rohit Kumar won the bronze medal with a throw of 14.56 metres. .

Siddharth Babu won another gold medal for India by finishing first in the mixed 50m rifle prone SH1. Siddharth defeated Chao Dong of China by just 0.2 points in a close contest. In Women’s Shot Put-F34, Bhagyashree Madhavrao Jadhav won the silver medal with an impressive throw of 7.54 meters.

Meanwhile, India’s 18th gold medal came from archery, in which Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar won the mixed team compound – open final.

Manisha Ramdas and Mandeep Kaur got bronze medal in badminton women’s doubles SL3-SU5 event, while Manisha Ramdas won bronze medal in singles SU-5 event. In badminton men’s doubles SH-6 category, Sivarajan Solaimalai and Krishna Nagar won the bronze medal.

In Archery Men’s Doubles- W1 Open event, archers Adil Mohammed and Naveen Dalal won the bronze medal with a remarkable score of 125-120. In men’s badminton singles SL-4, Sukant Kadam won the bronze medal with an excellent performance.

Narayan Thakur started the medal haul today with a bronze in the men’s T35 100m. He won the bronze medal in this event with a timing of 14.37 seconds. Meanwhile, Shreyansh Tiwari had to settle for a bronze medal in the men’s T-37 100m event with a timing of 12.24 seconds.
