What is the update on Astra Mark-2, Astra Mark-3?
DRDO chief Dr. Sameer V. Kamat has informed that DRDO is working fast on air-to-air missiles. The weapon missile has already joined the army and now work is going on on Astra Mark-2 and Astra Mark-3. In addition, the Rudram missile is also emerging as an important system. He said that work is going on on the extended range of BrahMos missile, which will become part of the army in the next 2-3 years. BrahMos NG (Next Generation) will be integrated into various aircraft. Currently it is used only in Sukhoi aircraft, but it will be more powerful in the future. The accuracy of BrahMos and the ability to destroy enemy goals makes it an extraordinary missile.
What is the future preparation regarding missile?
The Indian Air Force has replaced indigenous weapons in place of the old Micah missile. The weapon missile is designed by DRDO. Bayond visual range missiles offer fighter jets to stand of range. In future, this missile will also be installed in Tejas MK2, AMCA, TedBF fighter jets.
What is the specialty of weapon missile?
- The air -to -air Astra MK2 missile comes in the Bayond Visual Range category i.e. where a fighter jet or attack helicopter pilot cannot be seen, this missile also makes an accurate attack.
- This missile monitors the target. No matter how left-left she is, it collides with it.
- It weighs 154 kg. The length is 12.6 feet and the diameter is 7 inches.
- Astra MK-2 missiles can apply high-exclusive or pre-fragmented HMX weapons. It can carry 15 kg weapons with it.
- Its range is 130 to 160 km. It goes up to a maximum height of 66 thousand feet. It moves to the enemy at a speed of 5556.6 km/h.
India will create a defense system like ‘Iron Dome’!
Dr. Kamat said that India is working on a layered defense system like Iron Dome. Currently India has systems like Akash Missile, Qrsam, and S-400. In addition, work is going on on the Kusha missile, counterpart of S-500. Many units of these systems will be required to protect the entire country. Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) was approved last year. Its first prototype will be ready by 2029, after which flight tests will begin. By 2034, the project will be completed and from 2035 AMCA will start to be part of the Indian Air Force. The project can be completed in association with private sector or HAL.
