New Delhi, The Supreme Court on Monday made a sharp comment on the lack of approval from the Central Government on the collegium’s recommendation to make two Sikh lawyers judges of the High Court. The court has questioned the government as to why it selects some names and leaves out others in matters of transfer and appointment.

Lawyers Harmeet Singh Grewal and Deepender Singh Nalwa were recommended to be made judges in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Referring to this, the bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Sudhanshu Dhulia raised a question. The bench said that the two candidates whose names were not approved are both Sikhs. Why is this happening? The court asked Attorney General R. Addressing Venkataramani, he said, Attorney, a better impression cannot be given than this. You cannot pick and choose transfers and postings this way. What message do you want to convey through this?
