15 crore year old pliosaur Skull found in England know about this sea monster
Scientists have found the skull of a sea creature off the coast of England, which existed about 150 million years ago. This skull-like fossil belongs to a pliosaur. The 2-meter-long fossil is the most complete specimen of pliosaur ever discovered. Scientists feel that this will provide important information about the behavior and psychology of pliosaurs. Pliosaur was a ferocious reptile living in the sea, which could crush its prey in a pinch.
According to BBC report, this skull is longer than most humans. From this it can be imagined how huge a creature the pliosaur was. The report says that the front teeth of the pliosaur were long and razor-sharp. He was quite lethal and could cut through flesh. Because of this, Pliosaurs became skilled hunters. According to the Guardian report, the specialty of the fossil is that dozens of its sharp teeth still remain.
Pliosaurs were so dangerous that they did not spare even other pliosaurs. They used to hunt them too. Steve Etches, who was involved in the current discovery, told BBC News that it is one of the best fossils ever found. It stands out because it is complete. Most of the things of the skull found are present in this fossil. However this fossil has become slightly distorted.
A documentary is ready on this fossil, which will be shown on BBC in the New Year. Regarding this discovery, Dr. Andre Rowe of Bristol University said that the animal must have been so huge that it would have easily hunted any creature. He compared pliosaurs to a dangerous species of dinosaur.
The special thing is that paleontologist Steve Etches and his friend Phil Jacobs were walking near Kimmeridge Bay on the Jurassic coast of southern England, when they came across this fossil. After several months of investigation he was able to explore it. Scientists now want to find the remaining part of this fossil.
