Prathap Simha is accused of cheating many NGOs in Karnataka
Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch Police have arrested a man who cheated multiple NGOs by promising to get them CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) funds.
Police sid Prathap Simha mainly targeted NGOs that are engaged in welfare activities for orphan children and senior citizens. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda said that there were multiple check-bounce cases against Simha.
“The Central Crime Branch (CCB) special investigation team has arrested a man who cheated NGOs by promising to get CSR funds. Several cases were registered against him in Halasuru and Peenya Police Stations. A chartered accountant had filed a case at the Peenya Police Station alleging that Simha had cheated 18 NGOs. There are numerous cheque bounce cases against him,” the Police Commissioner told the media.
Couple arrested for conning senior citizens
The Central Crime Branch (CCB) Cyber Police arrested a couple who cheated senior citizens by falsely promising to renew their expired insurance policies. The arrested persons, Udaya B and his wife Tirtha Gowda worked at insurance companies in the past and started conning senior citizens by collecting their insurance data from the companies where they worked. They operated through a call center they set up at Indiranagar in Bengaluru.
According to the Police Commissioner, eight bank accounts of the couple with Rs 1.8 crore were frozen. The couple had cheated 290 people.
