Watch Video China has grown vegetables in space 450 kilometers above the Earth
Vegetable Garden in Space: China is surprising the world with its space missions. When America’s NASA and other space agencies kept China away from the International Space Station (ISS), it prepared its own space station Tiangong space station. Many experiments are being conducted at this station. One of them is ‘Space Garden’. China has started growing vegetables in space! Shenzhou 16 astronauts are cultivating vegetables as part of an experiment in the space station.
Mission commander Jing Haipeng, astronauts Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao have achieved this feat. Its video has also surfaced, in which it can be seen that the three astronauts have cultivated vegetables in space by preparing a special environment. He is growing vegetables on a piece of equipment in a certain area.
That equipment creates an excellent environment for the growth of plants. Controls temperature, humidity, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. China’s video agency CCTV+ reports that in future this space garden will provide food, water etc. to astronauts. It will also give scientists an opportunity to develop new thinking on the growth of plants in the space environment.
Scientists have also taken about 100 varieties of beech with them. Preparations are underway to bring them back to Earth by exposing them to the radiation of the universe. After that further experiments will be done. At present, the things grown in space are not being used by astronauts. They have been sent into space equipped with various types of packed food.
Although this is not a new experiment. NASA and other space agencies have already grown many plants in the International Space Station. By the end of 2022, China had prepared its space station. By now it is almost operational.
