New Delhi: Renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has returned to the silver screen after a gap of five years with Dunki, continuing his legacy of making films on significant societal issues. It opened to mostly positive reviews from critics on Thursday (December 21, 2023) and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer is receiving overflowing love from cinemagoers for its relevant storyline.
Dunki’s storyline is based on an illegal immigration technique, called Donkey flight. The unlawful method is used for unauthorised entry into nations such as the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Individuals – hailing from Indian states like Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat – mainly use it to enter their target countries.
Dunki movie end scene
The flick concluded on a positive note, offering viewers a profound insight into the emotions of returning to one’s homeland. In the ending scene, the film’s lead characters are once again offered to move abroad, using the Dunki technique. But, they have learnt their lesson, the hard way, by then.
King Khan metaphorically gave a ‘Dhobi Pachhad’ not to the travel agent but to the ideology to entice those in need to move abroad, promising a better future. Dunki concludes with a message that migration laws are only effective for the poor and deny them greater work opportunities.
Dunki Box Office
Dunki minted Rs 30 crore net on its first day at the domestic Box Office, for all language dubbed versions combined. The movie also featured Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and Boman Irani in important roles.
