New Delhi, 22 December (Hindustan Reporter). The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has again summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the Excise Policy scam. The Central Investigation Agency has sent summons to Kejriwal for the third time and asked him to appear before the ED on January 3 for questioning.
Official sources said in the information given on Friday that the Enforcement Directorate has sent a notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the third time. The investigating agency has asked Kejriwal to appear before the ED on January 3.
Earlier, ED had issued summons to Kejriwal on December 18 and asked him to appear before the investigating agency on December 21 but he had refused to appear before the agency. Instead of appearing before the hearing, Kejriwal had left for Hoshiarpur in Punjab to attend a Vipassana camp for 10 days.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had sent his reply on the second ED summons on Thursday. Kejriwal has termed ED's summons as politically motivated and unnecessary. He has also said that he has nothing to hide. Kejriwal said that he is ready to accept every legal summons, but this ED summons is also politically motivated like the previous summons.
It is noteworthy that ED had sent a second summons to Kejriwal to appear and record his statement on December 21 in the excise policy scam case. The agency had earlier called Kejriwal for questioning on November 2. Kejriwal also did not appear before the central probe agency at that time, saying the notice was “vague, (politically) motivated and not maintainable as per law”.
