UPI ID As the new year approaches, new rules and conditions are being implemented on everything. Meanwhile, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued instructions to block inactive UPI IDs. In detail, if you have not been doing online transactions through UPI ID for a year or more, your UPI ID will be blocked from January 1, 2024.
Why will UPI ID be blocked?
As we all know, these days platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm use UPI ID to send money online. This ID is linked to your mobile number. But it often happens that multiple UPI IDs are linked to the same mobile number and they cannot be used for a long time.
According to the NPCI report, customers link the mobile number to the new UPI ID on the new mobile without deactivating the old UPI ID. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued guidelines in this regard. As per NPCI notification, all banks and third party apps have started deactivating UPI ID. In fact, old UPI IDs are more likely to cause fraud. In such a situation, instructions have been given by NPCI to block it.
What should be done to prevent ID from being blocked?
If you do not want your old inactive ID to be closed, then you need to activate this ID. You must activate your old ID before December 31, 2023. For this you do not need to do much, you have to make payment through RAW UPI ID and activate it.
