Earlier, in Test history, only three players were able to take a century and five wickets in a Test match for South Africa. After this, veteran all -rounder Jack Kallis, who did this feat twice against West Indies in 1999 and Bangladesh in 2002.

South African players who took a century + 5 wickets in the same Test:

  • Jimmy Sinklair (1899, against England, Cape Town)
  • Obre Folkner (1910, against England, Johannesburg)
  • Jack Kallis (1999, against West Indies)
  • Jack Kallis (2002, against Bangladesh)

But this performance of all these came to the home ground. Korbin Bosch has created history after 23 years by executing it abroad. He has become the first player of South Africa to take a century and five wickets in a Test on foreign soil.

Significantly, Bosch made his debut against Pakistan last year and there he also caught everyone’s attention with fifty and 5 wickets. Now by giving such a bang performance in his second Test match, he has shown that South Africa has got a big match winner in the coming time.
