Amethi: In a major development in the Amethi murder case, the police have arrested Chandan Verma, the main accused in the brutal killings of the teacher’s family. The shocking incident, which occurred recently, left four members of the family dead.
The arrest was made possible through a collaborative effort between the Special Task Force (STF) and local police, who conducted a coordinated operation to apprehend the suspect. After his capture, Verma was taken into custody, where police officials initiated an interrogation process to gather more information about the crime.
Sources said that during questioning, Chandan confessed to his involvement in the crime. The authorities are currently conducting a confidential interrogation to uncover the details surrounding the incident and the motive behind the killings.
Murder of Sunil and his family
Sunil Kumar, a 35-year-old teacher, lived with his wife and two children in a rented house at the main intersection of Ahorwa Bhavani town, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Shivratanganj police station. Employed as an assistant teacher at PM Shri Vidyalaya Panhauna, Kumar was attacked at home on Thursday evening by a group of armed assailants who opened fire.
His wife and two children tried to protect him but were also shot during the assault. All four family members were taken to CHC Singhpur, where they were pronounced dead. Following the incident, SP Anup Kumar Singh arrived at the scene with a substantial police presence. ASP Harendra Pratap confirmed the occurrence and stated that an investigation is currently underway.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the victims’ families. He instructed officials to quickly assess the situation and said that there is a need for strict action against those responsible.
