Gandhinagar, 4 October (Hindustan Reporter). Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday, the second day of his Gujarat visit, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various development works worth Rs 473 crore of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. During the program organized at the Town Hall of Gandhinagar, he said that Gandhinagar area has been the focal point of development since the beginning. From the time Narendra Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat till today, development work has been going on continuously in Gandhinagar. He said that now Metro has also come in Gift City Gandhinagar and Forensic Science University, National Defense University and Petroleum University have been established here. Also, the first 5 star hotel at a railway station in India was also built in Gandhinagar. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel have contributed a lot in the overall development of Gandhinagar.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shah said that the development works that were inaugurated and bhoomi pujan done today should not be seen in small parts by the people of Gandhinagar. After Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014, Urban Development Policy was brought and policies were made to provide cities with all the necessary facilities. As a result of the same urban development policy, Gandhinagar is today becoming a modern city with all facilities under the smart city framework. Shah said that before 2014, there were neither any projects nor any policy for urban development in the entire country.
Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi made many schemes for urban development and if we look at all those schemes in totality, the work of bringing e-governance has been done in almost all the municipal corporations in the entire country. He said that the Smart City Mission moved forward under this scheme only. The Home Minister said that in the next 5 years, Integrated Command and Control Mission Network will be ready in almost all the municipal corporations of the country. He said that by laying metro network in the cities, a city without traffic has been imagined. Work was done in the direction of making electric buses a pollution-free city throughout India. In this direction, work was done to make vehicles smoke free through green energy and green energy cities were built with the help of solar panels.
The Home Minister said that instead of slums, a beginning was made to give self-owned flats to the poor. Apart from this, toilets were built in all the houses, solar roof top scheme was also introduced and work of installing LED lights was done. He said that many people were empowered through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), Pradhan Mantri PM Vishwakarma Yojana and increase in digital behaviour. The Modi government has pledged to organize the Olympic Games in Gandhinagar in 2036. Shah said that in the last 15 years, Gandhinagar has become the focal point of education.
