CBI arrested NIA DSP in Bihar for taking bribe of Rs 20 lakh, this is the whole matter
New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested National Investigation Agency (NIA) Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Pratap Singh and two middlemen posted in Patna on charges of taking bribe. He is accused of taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh to favor a person in a pending investigation.
CBI had received a complaint from Rocky Yadav, owner of Ramaiya Construction, that Deputy SP Ajay Pratap Singh was extorting money from him by threatening to implicate him in false charges in an illegal weapons case. According to Rocky Yadav, Deputy SP Ajay Pratap Singh had asked for a bribe of Rs 2.5 crore from him. During investigation, it was revealed that Ajay Pratap Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh as an initial amount. Officials said the National Investigation Agency searched Rocky Yadav’s premises on September 19 and asked him to appear for questioning on September 26 before Ajay Pratap Singh, who was the investigating officer in the case.
Deputy SP had asked for bribe to save from the result
It is alleged that Deputy SP Ajay Pratap Singh, who came to NIA on deputation from the Income Tax Department, threatened Rocky Yadav and demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 crore from him to avoid the results. An official said that Rocky Yadav had accepted the demand to save his family from false allegations. The accused Deputy SP asked the complainant to pay the initial amount of Rs 25 lakh on September 26 (the day of interrogation) and gave him a hand written note containing the mobile number of a middleman. After this, it was alleged that the complainant arranged for Rs 25 lakh and instructed his relative to deliver the money after contacting him on the mobile number.
Was asked to deliver Rs 70 lakh in Gaya, Bihar
CBI spokesperson said that this money was given to the recipient, who reached Aurangabad in Bihar. The CBI alleged that Ajay Pratap Singh was in touch with the accused middleman, who along with another middleman was present in Aurangabad, Bihar at around 11.30 pm on the day of the incident, confirming the delivery of the bribe. The CBI alleged that Singh called Rocky Yadav again on October 1, where a demand of Rs 70 lakh was made and half the amount was asked to be delivered to Patna on the same day. The accused Deputy SP again gave a hand written note containing a mobile number to Raki Yadav. Later the complainant contacted on the given phone number and asked for some time to arrange the money and assured that the money was sent on October 3 and will be sent to Bihar.
Three arrested including Deputy SP
Meanwhile, CBI informed senior NIA officers about this entire matter and laid a trap and arrested Deputy SP Ajay Pratap Singh and his two agents Himanshu and Hrithik Kumar Singh. In this raid, searches were conducted at many places in Patna, Gaya and Varanasi, in which an amount of Rs 20 lakh was recovered. The entire bribe deal was completed through middlemen and when Rocky Yadav paid the bribe money, the CBI arrested all three accused red handed.
