Mining scam investigation intensifies, CBI raids 16 locations including Kolkata, Patna
New Delhi. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials have conducted simultaneous raids at 16 places in connection with the illegal mining scam in Nimbu Pahad, Jharkhand. According to the officer, raids have been conducted at some locations in Jharkhand as well as in Kolkata and Patna.
There are signs of acceleration in the investigation of illegal stone mining scam in Lemon Pahad belonging to Jharkhand. According to reports, CBI officers have raided 16 locations simultaneously. Apart from Jharkhand, there is news of searches being conducted in Kolkata and Patna also. Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s alleged political associate Pankaj Mishra is also under investigation in this case.
Searches at locations in Jharkhand, Bengal and Bihar
Officials of the Central Investigation Agency said that during the raid on Tuesday, apart from Jharkhand, they searched many places in West Bengal and Bihar. Officials said that searches were conducted at 11 places in Sahibganj, Jharkhand. The premises of the suspects and their associates were searched at three places in Ranchi and one place each in Patna and Kolkata.
Investigation on the orders of High Court, cash and gold and silver worth lakhs also seized
Investigating officials said that during the search, CBI has recovered Rs 50 lakh in cash, one kilogram of gold and one kilogram of silver, besides documents of property worth crores of rupees. It is noteworthy that after hearing the case related to illegal stone mining scam in Lemon Pahad, the Central Investigation Agency had registered the case on November 23, 2023 on the instructions of Jharkhand High Court.
