India reached top in WTC points table by defeating AUS in Perth, hopes of final still alive
Cricket News Desk. The Indian cricket team has started the Border Gavaskar Trophy by winning the Perth Test match by a huge margin of 295 runs. With this, the Indian team has taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series. India gave Australia a target of 534 runs to win in the second innings, in response to which the host team was out for 238 runs. With this spectacular victory, India has reached the top in the points table of the World Test Championship.
India tops the WTC points table
The Indian cricket team topped the WTC points table by winning 9 out of 15 Tests. India now has 110 points. Australia is behind India with 90 points in 13 matches. If Team India wants to reach the final of the World Test Championship on its own, then it will have to defeat Australia 4-0 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
Indian bowlers performed brilliantly in the second innings also
In response to the huge target, Australia lost three wickets in the third session of the third day. At the beginning of the fourth day, Mohammad Siraj gave a big blow to Usman Khawaja by getting him caught by Pant. Khawaja contributed 4 runs in this innings. After this, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith tried to build a partnership and both took the team’s score to 79.
India got another big success before lunch when Siraj ended Smith’s innings by getting him caught by Pant on 17 runs. Steve Smith faced 60 balls before getting out and did not hit a single four. Meanwhile, Australia’s score increased rapidly due to Travis Head’s quick half-century, but by lunch, half of their team was out for only 104 runs.

After lunch, Head continued the pace of his innings and played some brilliant shots. Bumrah gave another important success to India by catching Pant on a personal score of 89 runs. After this, Nitish Reddy ended Mitchell Marsh’s innings by scoring 47 runs in 67 balls. After this, only wicketkeeper batsman Alex Carey kept playing while wickets kept falling at the other end.
Washington Sundar took the wickets of Mitchell Starc (12) and Nathan Lyon (0). While Harshit Rana bowled Kerry and got the winning wicket. Carey played an innings of 36 runs in 58 balls. For India, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj got 3-3 wickets. Sunder Bey, Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy took 1 wicket each. Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah was given the Player of the Match award for taking 8 wickets in the match.
