Auto News Desk – Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has finally entered the electric two-wheeler segment. It today unveiled two new electric scooters – Activa E and QC1. The Honda QC1 electric scooter has been developed specifically for India, while the Activa E has been developed for India as well as other emerging markets.

When will the booking of both electric scooters start?
Both electric vehicles will be available by 2025, while booking for these vehicles will begin from January 1, 2025. The prices of both the products will be revealed in January 2025. The Honda e-scooter is the Japanese brand’s first electric offering for the Indian market. The company is manufacturing these new electric scooters at its facility in Karnataka near Bengaluru. This plant will meet domestic and export demand. Honda retails the CUV:e in Europe that was showcased at EICMA 2024, but the new electric scooter for India is very different.

Honda Activa E has two swappable batteries, which provides additional convenience in charging it. Honda will install its own charging stations in the markets to facilitate easy swapping. In terms of design, both models are very similar, although there are slight differences. The Honda Activa E gets LED combination lights and indicators at the front and rear, while the QC1 misses out on high mounted LED DRLs, wraparound taillights and some chrome elements from the Activa E. Also, the Activa E has disc brakes at the front, while the QC1 has drum brakes.

Also, the Honda Activa Electric comes with a TFT digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. The model also has navigation as well as music controls with call and SMS alerts. The QC1, on the other hand, has a simpler LCD unit to keep costs down. Other features include three riding modes – Standard, Sport and Econ – the latter of which is meant to maximize range while the Sport mode is meant for more performance.

How much range will you get on a single charge
The new Honda electric scooter is powered by a wheel-side motor, which is tuned to deliver a maximum output of 8 bhp in the Activa E and 2.4 bhp in the QC1. The Honda Activa E has a claimed range of 102 km on a single charge, while the QC1 has a claimed range of 80 km.

Honda electric scooters fall into an affluent segment with options like TVS iQube, Visa V1, Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro, Simple One, Ampere Nexus and others. The electric scooter will be available through Honda dealerships across India and will go on sale in 2025.
