North Korea sent about 40 balloons filled with garbage to South Korea: JCS
Seoul, November 29 (IANS). South Korea’s military said on Friday that North Korea had sent about 40 balloons filled with garbage across the border into South Korea since last night, most of which fell in a large area of the capital.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said they saw about 30 balloons released by North Korea over the capital region from Thursday night to Friday morning, including Gyeonggi province around Seoul, according to Yonhap news agency.
“The material found (from the balloons) contained propaganda leaflets against South Korea. There was nothing in it that could pose a security threat,” the military said.
North Korea has sent such balloons to South Korea 32 times since the end of May, including this latest incident in response to anti-Pyongyang propaganda leaflets sent across the border by South Korea.
