Hemant Soren takes oath of office and secrecy as 14th Chief Minister of Jharkhand

Ranchi. In Jharkhand, Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Hemant Soren as Chief Minister at 4 pm today in a grand program organized at Morhabadi Maidan in Ranchi.

Hemant Soren took the oath of office and secrecy as the 14th Chief Minister of the state. This will be the 49-year-old Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader’s fourth term as Chief Minister.

On this occasion, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, former Chief Minister Shibu Soren and his wife Rupi Soren, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav, Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, former Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann, former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Uday Stalin, MAS General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge Ghulam Ahmed. Mir, MP Pappu Yadav, Sanjay Singh, Kalpana Soren, Assembly Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahato and Gaurav Chaddha and many other important leaders were present.

Soren took oath as CM of Jharkhand for the fourth time. With this, many records were registered in his name in the political history of Jharkhand. He became the first politician to take oath as CM four times in the state’s 24-year history. Before this, his father Shibu Soren and Arjun Munda of Bharatiya Janata Party have sat on the CM’s chair thrice each.

Hemant Soren took oath as CM for the first time on July 13, 2013 in the government formed with the support of JMM, Congress and RJD alliance. The tenure of this government was till 23 December 2014. He took oath for the second time on 29 December 2019.

He had to resign from the post of CM after he was arrested by ED on 31 January 2024. After coming out on bail, he took oath as CM for the third time on July 4, 2024. Hemant Soren’s name is being recorded as the first CM of Jharkhand, who has returned to the government for the second consecutive time.
