Dharamshala, 29 November (Hindustan Reporter). Youth Services and Sports Minister Yadvindra Goma on Friday inaugurated the three-day All India Dr. YS Parmar Memorial Volleyball Competition being organized at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ground in Panchrukhi in Kangra district. In the first match played on the first day of the competition, Uttarakhand defeated the host Himachal Pradesh team 3-0. In the second match, the Indian Army team defeated the Haryana team 3-1. In another match, the Indian Navy team defeated the Rajasthan team 3-0. Whereas the Northern Railway team also entered the next stage by defeating the Income Tax Gujarat team 3-0.

Earlier, while inaugurating the competition, Sports Minister Yadavindra Goma said that to promote sports in the state, the Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu government has taken a historic decision and honored the players by increasing the incentive amount to the players unprecedentedly. Goma said that in the Olympics and Para Olympics, the honorarium for gold medal winners has been increased from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore, for silver medal winners from Rs 2 to Rs 3 crore and for bronze medal winners from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.

He said that among medal winners in Asian and Para Asian Games, the honorarium of gold medal winners has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 4 crore, for silver medal winners from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2.5 crore and for bronze medal winners from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore. He said that in the Commonwealth Games also, the honor money for gold medal winners has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 3 crore, for silver medal winners from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2 crore and for bronze medal winners from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

Congratulating the residents of the area for organizing the three-day competition, he said that eight teams from the country are participating in it and players playing in the Indian team are also included in it.

15 lakhs for sports ground in every assembly

He said that under the Chief Minister Youth Sports Promotion Scheme, an amount of Rs 15 lakh is being made available to build a sports ground in each assembly constituency and Rs 10 crore 20 lakh is being spent in this scheme in the current financial year. He said that to promote sports, Hockey Astroturf ground has been constructed at Majra in Sirmaur. Apart from this, construction work of multipurpose hall in Sundar Nagar of Mandi, indoor stadium in Bangana of Una, multipurpose hall in Pragpur of district Kangra and athletics track in Noorpur will be done at a cost of about Rs 37 crore. He informed that multi-purpose sports complexes will also be constructed in Hamirpur and Jaisinghpur.
