According to information received from the Chief Minister’s Office, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has said that this initiative is a big step to integrate surrendered Naxalites and victim families living in Naxal affected areas into the mainstream. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana, 15 thousand houses are not just houses but a symbol of respect and security for those families. Our government will implement this scheme with complete transparency and promptness.

He said that this scheme is a revolutionary step towards the development and establishment of peace in the state. He said that our government is committed to provide a better life to the families of Naxal victims and surrendered Naxalites. Providing housing to the victim families will prove to be a milestone in the direction of providing a safe and dignified life to the families living in Naxal affected areas. This scheme will be helpful in achieving the goals of social harmony and development.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that this scheme will especially include those families whose names were not included in the list of Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 and Housing Plus 2018. Permission to upload these names on the Awas Plus portal till 6 December 2024 has been given by the Central Government.

Deputy Chief Minister Sharma had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and requested for approval to provide houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for surrendered Naxalites and Naxal victim families. As a result, 15 thousand houses have been approved by the Government of India.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that under this special project, the Superintendent of Police will provide the list of surrendered Naxalites and Naxal victim families to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the district Panchayat. After this, this list will be surveyed and verified by the District Panchayat. After verification, the land will be identified for the beneficiaries through the Collector. On the basis of this, the process of housing construction will start as per the guidelines of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
