Maruti can launch its first strong hybrid car in 2025, will get more mileage
Maruti Suzuki Front Facelift is expected to arrive in the Indian market next year and it may get strong hybrid technology.
In less than 10 months after the Maruti Suzuki Fronx made its debut at the Auto Expo 2023, it had become the fastest model in Maruti’s lineup to reach 1 lakh sales in the domestic market. Its sales were tremendous and Fronx doubled its sales within the next 7 months. Taking advantage of this success, Maruti Suzuki has started exporting this model to many markets.
It is the second Maruti Suzuki model to be exported to Japan, after the success of the Baleno, which made its debut in the Japanese market in 2016. Maruti Suzuki, along with its partner Toyota, has also seen considerable success with the strong hybrid variant of the model. Like the Grand Vitara and urban cruiser Highrider, the Ford Focus is expected to get hybrid technology in its upcoming facelift.
Both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are preparing to launch their electric SUVs in 2025. Maruti is also focusing on expanding its alternative fuel technology and new hybrid offerings will be coming out at different price points in the future. Frontex is expected to play a key role in this strategy and become a major player in India’s growing hybrid vehicle market.
The Front Facelift, expected to be launched next year, is expected to introduce Maruti Suzuki’s strong hybrid technology with the Z12E engine. Additionally, other future models including the next-generation Baleno are likely to adopt this hybrid setup as Maruti Suzuki plans to expand its range of fuel-efficient and eco-friendly vehicles.
Maruti Suzuki has already confirmed that it is working on localized hybrid technology. If this happens, then the 2025 Frontex could become the first compact SUV with this strong hybrid technology that can give a mileage of more than 30 kmpl. Along with the upgraded hybrid powertrain, the Ford Focus is also expected to get minor cosmetic and interior updates to enhance its appeal.
Maruti Suzuki’s locally manufactured HEV system will help work out the cost. Like Nissan’s e-Power technology, the petrol engine in these hybrids will act primarily as a range extender, thereby increasing mileage.
