Kannada actor Shobitha Shivanna, popular for her roles in films like Eradondla Mooru (2015) and TV serials like Gaalipata was found dead at her Hyderabad residence on Sunday, 1 December.

According to reports, the actor has allegedly died by suicide. The Hindu reported that her husband tried to knock on her door multiple times but in vain. Finally, he broke open the door and found her hanging.

The Gachibowli police were immediately informed and they reached the spot. The reason for death is yet to be ascertained.

“Kannada actress Shobhitha Shivanna found dead in apartment. She allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Kondapur, within the limits of PS Gachibowli. The police have registered a case,” a police official told the news agency ANI.

The mortal remains of the actor have been sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem and could be transported to her hometown in Karnataka for the final rites.

Shobitha Shivanna made her acting debut in 2015 with the film Rangi Taranga. She later also acted in films like the KGF franchise, and U-Turn.

The actor worked in other major Kannada films like ATM: Attempt to Murder (2018), Ondh Kathe Hella (2019), and Vandana. She was also a regular in TV serials such as Gaalipata, Mangala Gowri, Kogile, Brahmagantu, and Krishna Rukmini.

Born on 23 September, 1992, in Bengaluru, Shobitha was interested in arts and entertainment from a young age. She completed her schooling at Baldwin Girls High School and pursued a degree in Fashion Designing from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Bengaluru.
