Floods in Texas, USA have caused havoc.

Curvil: Heavy rains have caused havoc in the Hill Country area located in the state of Texas, USA. According to reports, there was so much rain in a few hours as it was not usually in months, due to which the Gwadalup river flooded. The floods in the river lost at least 13 people and went missing more than 20 girls, who were in a girls summer camp. Rescuers are trying to evacuate people trapped in strong current through helicopters and boats.

More than 10 inches of rain occurred overnight

Karwil County received more than 10 inches of rain in the night, causing the river water level to suddenly rise. According to the National Weather Service, the water level of the Gwadalup river near Hunt climbed to 22 feet in just 2 hours. Meteorologist Bob Phogartha said, “The water increased so fast that people did not get a chance to recover.” County judge Rob Kelly said that many people have been found dead, but they have not been identified yet. He said, “Our efforts are going on, but the situation is very difficult.”

Many girls went missing in summer camp

A private Christian Girls Summer Camp named Camp Mistic located in Hunt was hit by this flood. Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick said that 23 girls of the camp are still missing. He has appealed to the people of Texas to pray for the safety of girls. Camp Mistic sent an email to the parents and said that the families of the children who have come to know have been informed. However, the supply of electricity, Wi-Fi and water in the camp is stalled, and the road leading to there has also been washed away. The second two camps, Camp Waldamer and Camp La Junta, said on Instagram that all their children and staff are safe.

People’s uneasiness is seen on social media

The restlessness of families is clearly visible on social media. People are asking for the search for their children, nephews and relatives. A woman wrote on Facebook that there was no contact with her daughter, who was in a cabin in the hunt with her husband and two children. On the Facebook page of Karvil County Sheriff Office, people are sharing the pictures and praying for their loved ones. The water going downwards from Karvil and Hunt has also increased the danger in Kendal County. In comfort, the Sheriff Office warned of floods and asked those living in low -lying areas to leave immediately.

Erin Burges, who lives in Bumble B Hills near Ingram, said that when the rains started at 3:30 am on Friday, everything seemed normal. But after 20 minutes, water started entering his house. His 19 -year -old son Erin, his boyfriend and dog somehow resorted to a tree. She said, ‘My son is more than 6 feet long, because of that I survived.’ After some time his boyfriend and dog were also found.

‘Didn’t know that such a big flood was going to come’

County Judge Rob Kelly admitted that there was no concrete alert system despite flood warnings. He said, ‘We did not know that such a big flood was going to come. This river valley is one of the most dangerous river valleys in America. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said that the state government is sending resources to the affected areas. Relief work is going on fast in areas like Karvil, Ingram and Hunt. Apart from Texas, the storm has wreaked havoc in New Jersey. Two people died after falling trees there. In the city of Planfield, two men aged 79 and 25 years lost their lives when trees fell on a car. (AP)
