After defeat in Edgbaston, there was a ruckus in England’s camp, this fast bowler suddenly joined the team
Gus Atkinson Added to England Squad: Indian cricket team defeated England by a huge margin of 336 runs in the second Test match played at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham to equal the five-match series 1-1. India had earlier played eight matches in Edgbaston, in which seven were defeated and a draw.
In May, Atkinson was ruled out of the first two Tests of the series due to Hamstring injury during England’s only Test against Zimbabwe. Surrey and England bowler have so far taken 55 wickets in their 12 Tests at an average of 22.30. Atkinson also has a great record at Lord’s. He has taken 10 wickets at an impressive average of 10.22 in two Tests played there. In his last match against Sri Lanka, he took seven wickets (including five wickets in the second innings) and also scored his first first class century.
After a poor performance in Edgbaston, Atkinson’s arrival will promote England’s fast bowling. In addition to a trio of Chris Woakes, Josh Tung and Bridan Cars, playing in Birmingham, England have Jofra Archer, Sam Cook and Jamie Overton in the reserve. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see what changes in their playing XI for the third Test.
