New Delhi: The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer biographical action film, Amaran had its theatrical release on October 31, 2024. Ever since its release, the film has received rave reviews for its incredible cast, engaging plotline and impactful soundtrack. Well, after an impressive Box Office run, the makers of Amaran have reportedly sold their digital rights to the OTT giant Netflix for a staggering amount.
That’s right, those who missed Amaran‘s theatrical run will be able to stream the film from the comfort of their homes soon! Based on the true story of the late Indian Army Officer Major Mukund Vadarajan, the film portrays the real-life hero’s inspiring journey. Amaran OTT release date
The makers are yet to announce an official OTT release date for Amaran. However, media reports suggest that Amaran will premiere on OTT on either December 5 or December 11, 2024. Reportedly, the OTT streaming giant, Netflix, acquired Amaran‘s digital streaming rights for a whopping Rs 60 crore from Kamal Haasan’s production company, Raaj Kamal International. Additionally, Amaran is reportedly set to be available in five languages – Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.
Amaran’s plot is based on a real story
As previously mentioned, Amaran is, in fact, based on a real story. Adapted from the book series India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, the film tells a story about a martyr. Part of the Indian Army’s Rajput regiment, Major Mukundan was tragically martyred on April 25, 2024. The makers left no stone unturned as they created a strong biographical film that has broken records.
Amaran joined the elite club of Tamil films that have surpassed the Rs 300 crore mark at the worldwide Box Office. With less than a month in its theatrical run, Amaran has minted an impressive Rs 198.04 at the Indian Box Office and Rs 303.5 crore worldwide. This feat made Amaran the second highest-grossing Tamil film in 2024, after Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT.
