Annu Rani Sets Sights on World Championship, Olympics

New Delhi: Commonwealth Games gold medallist Annu Rani is gearing up for a challenging yet exciting year ahead as she sets her sights on multiple international competitions in 2024. In an exclusive interview with PTI, Rani revealed that her primary target for the coming year is the World Championship, which she considers the most important event. She also expressed her intention to compete in the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics.
“My next target is the World Championship next year, that is the main competition in the coming year. Then there’s the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games, and the Olympics. An athlete’s journey never stops, it keeps on going… the list has just come in, and I will sit down with the coach and figure out the competitions we will target next year during the off-season,” Rani said.
Acknowledging the technical nature of javelin, Rani emphasized the importance of refining her skills and addressing past mistakes. She plans to review videos from last season to identify areas for improvement. “Javelin is a very technical sport, and we will try to rectify the mistakes I made last season by watching previous year’s videos and improving myself,” she added.
