Ather Electric to launch two all-new electric scooters including a family-based affordable scooter in India in 2024

Ather Energy, which recently celebrated ten years of operations at its Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu, is currently working on a brand new scooter and some key details of it have been revealed by brand co-founder and CEO Tarun. It will be a “large, family-oriented scooter” and has been designed “keeping the entire family in mind” as it is said to be adequately sized as well as comfortable. It is a more traditional scooter in design. CEO Tarun Mehta confirmed that the Ather family scooter will offer ample size, comfort, storage and more. It will be priced affordably with an aim to garner more customers and make its offerings more accessible.

They also confirmed that an evolved 450 series will be launched soon, building on the strong foundation of the original 450, which was excellent with a clean and sharp design ethos with a minimalist approach and top-notch performance. According to Mehta, the new incarnation of the Ather 450 series will offer the pinnacle of refined performance.

He further added, “It will have best-in-class features that will redefine your riding experience.” It will go on sale early next year with a premium price, but he assured that it will be worth the money spent. The Ather 450 was first introduced in September 2018, while it debuted in 2016.

About a year and a half later, the 450X made its way to the domestic market. The upcoming family-based zero-emission scooter could compete directly against scooters like the Ola S1X series, Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube and it will be interesting to see if it will be priced around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Bengaluru-based company is one of the best-selling electric two-wheeler brands in the country and aims to introduce electric motorcycles in the future to further expand its range.
