Before the second Test, there was a stir in Birmingham due to suspected packets, was Team India in danger? Know the whole case
Just before the second Test between India and England starting on July 2, there was a stir in the security of Team India in Birmingham on Tuesday. In fact, the area was surrounded after a suspected packet was found near Centenary Square in Central Birmingham near Team India’s hotel and the surrounding buildings were vacated.
City Center Police informed through social media at around 3 pm that this is a precautionary step and people were advised to stay away from the area. Meanwhile, BCCI sources told PTI that Indian players were also instructed not to leave the hotel.
The special thing is that many players of Team India are often seen walking on the broad street near the hotel, but after this alert they stayed inside. Eight players, including captain Shubman Gill, attended the practice session that day, while the remaining ten were given rest. Within about an hour, the police removed the cordon, avoiding the danger and the situation was declared normal. However, till then Team India remained confined within the hotel.
