Bihar shocker: 4 boys tied to pole, thrashed on suspicion of stealing biscuits, kurkure

Begusarai: A shocking video has surfaced on social media showing a group of people brutally thrashing four boys over suspicion of  stealing biscuit packets and Kurkure from a grocery shop in Fazilpur village of Bihar’s Begusarai district. The mob tied the boys to the pole and beat them up. The horrific incident was caught on camera.

The incident took place on October 28 in Birpur police station limit of the district. As the video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, police took note of it and filed a case against the grocery shopkeeper. Birpur Station House Officer (SHO), Pallav Kumar, said that they rescued the victims and took them to the police station. Police later informed their parents. “We are also scanning social media accounts to find out if any such video was uploaded or not,” he said. In the clip,  shared widely by social media users, the group can be seen thrashing the boys while their hands tied to the pole.

Children caught stealing from shop

During the investigation, police found that some children were caught stealing from the shop and were beaten up by a group of people. Begusarai Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar said that they have asked the family members of the boys to submit a written complaint against the shopkeeper so that they can take further legal action against him. The family is yet to give the application, police said.

Further probe into the matter is underway and the Birpur police station officials have been directed to contact the family members and record their statement. The SP said that that stringent action will be taken against the shopkeeper, adding that such harsh action against children is a serious crime.
