By-elections in UP, Punjab and Kerala postponed
New Delhi. The Election Commission has announced the change in the date of assembly by-elections to be held in UP, Punjab and Kerala. The Election Commission said on Monday that voting for 14 assembly seats in the three states will now be held on November 20 instead of November 13. The results will come only on 23rd November.
Let us tell you that voting will be held on 9 assembly seats (By-Elections) of UP, 4 of Punjab and 1 of Kerala on November 20. The change in dates has been made on the demand of major political parties of these states. These parties include BJP, Congress, RLD, BSP.
In Palakkad seat of Kerala, Congress had demanded change in the date due to “Kalpati Rathotsavam” festival. This festival is to be celebrated from 13 to 15 November. On the other hand, in UP, BJP, BSP and RLD had demanded change in the date due to Kartik Purnima. In Punjab, Congress had demanded change in the date due to the 555th Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Akhand Path to be held from November 13. Understanding everyone’s sentiments, the Election Commission has announced the change in the date.
Let us tell you that by-elections are to be held on 56 Palakkad seats of Kerala. On the other hand, elections are to be held on 10- Dera Baba Nanak, 44-Chabbewal (SC), 84-Giddarbaha, 103-Barnala seats of Punjab.

If we talk about Uttar Pradesh, by-elections will be held in 16-Meerapur, 29-Kunderki, 56-Ghaziabad, 71-Khair (SC), 110-Karhal, 213-Sisamau, 256-Phulpur, 277-Katehari, 397-Majhwan (By -Elections) are to be held.
No change in dates for 33 seats in 10 states
In today’s announcement by the Election Commission, the dates for 33 seats in 10 states have not been changed. That means voting will take place here only on 13th November. Voting will also be held on 43 seats of Jharkhand Assembly on the same day. On October 15, the Election Commission had announced the dates of by-elections for 48 assembly and 2 Lok Sabha seats of 14 states along with Maharashtra-Jharkhand.
