Calcutta Chamber of Commerce organizes special session on “How to Build an Indian Narrative”
Kolkata, 01 December (Hindustan Reporter). A special session on “How to Build an Indian Narrative” was organized by Calcutta Chamber of Commerce (CCC) on Friday. On this occasion, Sanjeev Sanyal, member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India, spoke while addressing the session organized on the topic “How to Build an Indian Narrative”.
He said that he expresses his gratitude to the present and former presidents of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce. I acknowledge the turning point in Indian history as we approach the status of the world's third largest economy. In this transformational phase, shaping our narrative on the global stage is paramount. Despite 7.6 per cent GDP growth, we are grappling with mysterious global rankings, such as India's 111th position on the Global Hunger Index along with concerns about the obesity epidemic. These seemingly absurd indices yield real results, with 20 per cent of sovereign ratings impacting our cost of capital derived from them. ESG ratings impacting companies and exports are gaining prominence. VDEM's Democracy Index ranks India 97th among liberal democracies, prompting consideration of the credibility of such assessments. Now is the time to confidently tell our story, transcending the rankings and ensuring that our narrative reflects the dynamic reality of India's progress on the world stage.
On this occasion, Hari Shankar Halvasia, President of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce, delivered the welcome address. On this occasion, former President of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce Kishan Kumar Kejriwal, Vice President Anurag Jhunjhunwala and former President of Calcutta Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Committee on Banking, Finance and Economic Affairs Rajkumar Chhajer were present.
