CBDT extends income tax return filing date for taxpayers with international transactions till December 15
New Delhi, 30 November (Hindustan Reporter). The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the last date for filing income tax returns for assessment year 2024-25 till December 15 through a notification. This extension will help taxpayers avoid penalties for late filing of ITR.
CBDT said in a statement on Saturday that the deadline for filing income tax returns has been extended for those taxpayers who have international transactions. For these taxpayers, the deadline for filing ITR for the financial year 2023-24 (assessment year 2024-25) has been extended by 15 days from November 30 to December 15, 2024.
Due date for furnishing income tax return under section 139(1) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 (Act) in the case of a taxpayer who is required to furnish the report referred to in section 92E, according to a release from the Central Board of Direct Taxes. The due date of November 30, 2024, for taxpayers falling under clause (aa) of Explanation 2 to sub-section (1) of section 139, has now been extended to December 15.
