Navratri dedicated to Adi Shakti Maa Durga holds great importance in Sanatan Dharma. This time there is some confusion among the people regarding Chaitra Navratri whether it will start from 8th April or 9th April. According to the calendar, this year 'Chaitra Navratri' (Chaitra Navratri 2024) is starting from Tuesday, April 9 and will end on Wednesday, April 17.

According to the scriptures, by observing fast and worshiping on Navratri, Goddess Durga is pleased and there is happiness, prosperity and prosperity in the house. According to the Panchang, Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month will start on April 8 at 11:50 pm and will end on the next day i.e. April 9 at 8:30 pm. Udaya Tithi is considered in Sanatan Dharma. Hence Ghatasthapana is on 9th April. The devotees can worship the first form of Maa Durga by doing Ghatasthapana as per their convenience.

According to astrologers, the Ghatasthapana time on April 9 is from 6:02 am to 10:16 am. Ghatasthapana can be done during this time. Apart from this, Ghatasthapana can also be done in Abhijeet Muhurta between 11:57 am to 12:48 pm.

Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga and Amrit Siddhi Yoga are being formed on the first day of Chaitra Navratri. Amrit and Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga is being formed from 7.32 in the morning. Both the yogas are till 5.06 pm in the evening. By worshiping Goddess Durga in these yogas, the seeker gets all kinds of worldly pleasures.

How to worship Mother Goddess on Navratri

Navratri starts with Ghatasthapana. Mother Shailputri is worshiped on the day of Ghatasthapana. In the worship of Navratri, materials like Kalash, Mauli, Roli, Ganga water, coin, wheat or Akshat, mango leaves, earthen pots, pure soil, Kalava, clean cloth, clean water and jowar etc. are collected. Red chunari, perfume, vermillion, mahwar, bindi, mehndi, kajal, toe rings, garland and anklets etc. are included for the adornment of Mata Rani.

For Navratri Puja, one wakes up in the morning in Brahma Muhurta and takes bath and wears clean clothes. Now a resolution is taken to fast for Maa Durga. After this the post is decorated and the idol of Mata is decorated on it. The Kalash is always kept in the north direction or installed in the north-east direction. Ashoka leaves are placed on the mouth of the Kalash and coconut is wrapped in a chunri and Kalava is tied on it. Ambe Maa is worshiped by lighting a lamp.

Let us tell you, Chaitra Navratri is celebrated in different ways in different parts of India, but some of its customs and traditions remain the same. During Navratri, people worship Durga and her nine forms, known as Navadurga, with great enthusiasm and devotion. Also during this time, people fast and pray to get the blessings of Goddess Durga for prosperity, happiness and good health.

The festival begins with the installation of clay idols of Durga in homes and pandals in different parts of the city. The idols of Goddess Durga are beautifully decorated with flowers, clothes and jewellery. Pandals are usually illuminated with colorful lights and decorations, creating a festive atmosphere.

The first three days of Navratri are dedicated to worshiping the forms of Goddess Durga, a fierce and powerful being who fights evil and protects her devotees. The next three days are dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, who bestows blessings of material and spiritual wealth on her devotees. The last three days are dedicated to Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, education and arts, who blesses her devotees with knowledge and creativity.

In some parts of India, the last day of Navratri is celebrated as Ram Navami. Chaitra Navratri ends with Ram Navami which is the birthday of Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu. According to the scriptures, Lord Ram was born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya.
