Beijing: China has once again shown tricks. China on Wednesday dismissed the Dalai Lama’s succession plan and emphasized that any future successor would have to get its approval. In this way, a new chapter has been added to the Tibetan Buddhist’s decades -old struggle with the ruling Communist Party of China.

The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said on Wednesday that the Dalai Lama’s organization would continue and only the Gaden Fodrang Trust will have the right to decide their successor. With this, the Dalai Lama ended uncertainty in this regard whether he would have any successor after him. The Gaden Fodarrang Trust was founded in 2015 by the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama’s announcement is going to increase tension with Beijing before the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama on Sunday.

Reacting to the announcement of the Dalai Lama, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said in a press conference, “The rebirth of the Dalai Lama will have to follow domestic recognition, ‘Gold Kalash’ process and the principles of approval by the central government,” said in a press conference.

Mao said that the Dalai Lama and the second largest spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism have to go through the centuries -old tradition of the Golden Kalash law process launched by the 18th -century King Dynasty for the rebirth of Panchan Lama. Mao said the present 14th Dalai Lama was recognized after the traditional rituals after the death of his predecessor, but his recognition was given directly by the then Central Government, which gave him exemption from the Golden Kalash process.

The world’s focus on the Dalai Lama in 1959 was when he came to India to take refuge with a large group of Tibetans after the Chinese army led by Communist Party founder Maotse Tung. He has been living in Dharamshala since then. His presence has remained the subject of dispute between China and India. The successor of the Dalai Lama may also have to continue the struggle for Tibetan autonomy.
