Chinese player Ding Liren won the first game
Beijing, November 26 (IANS). According to the China Chess Association, the FIDE Chess World Championship-2024 started in Singapore.
Reigning world champion Ding Liren of China defeated Indian player Mukesh Dammaraju after 42 rounds of battle, leading his opponent 1:0.
32 year old Ding Liren’s rating has fallen significantly in the last year, while 18 year old Mukesh Dammaraju’s rating has increased rapidly. After spending a lot of time in the early stage, Ding Liren launched a fierce attack in the mid-game.
Perhaps because he was mentally unprepared for Ding Liren’s fierce attack, Mukesh Dammaraju failed to organize an effective counterattack. Mukesh Dammaraju immediately accepted defeat in the 42nd round. The second set will be played on the 26th and Ding Liren will play first with white.
