CM Dhami also released ’50th Khalanga Mela Souvenir’
Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the saga of Khalanga is a symbol of the unmatched courage of our brave ancestors and our glorious heritage. This war reflects the indomitable courage of our brave Gorkha warriors and their immense love for the motherland, which will always inspire us with patriotism. Khalanga fair is also an opportunity to remember the bravery and indomitable courage of our ancestors.
On Sunday, Balbhadra was addressing the ’50th Khalanga Fair’ organized under the aegis of Khalanga Development Committee at Sagartal Nalapani. On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami paid tribute to the great son of Commander Kunwar Balbhadra Thapa and his brave comrades and brave women. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to give Rs 5 lakh to the Khalanga Mela Organizing Committee. The Chief Minister also released the souvenir published on the 50th Khalanga Fair.
Chief Minister Dhami said that in the Anglo-Gorkha war of 1814 in the battlefield of Khalanga, commander Kunwar Balbhadra Thapa and his brave soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect the motherland. In this war, Kunwar Balbhadra Thapa and his brave soldiers, facing the huge army of British soldiers, drove away the British army with their bravery and strategic skills. He said that this fair is also a medium to preserve our rich cultural traditions and pass them on to the next generation. The historical heritage of our country is not only the identity of our glorious past but also the strong roots of the banyan tree of our culture.
Chief Minister (CM Dhami) said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the work of strengthening our culture is being done in the entire country. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, along with development, the legacy is also being taken forward. Keeping the Khalanga War Memorial under the protection of the Archaeological Survey of India is a great example of this. He said that the state government is fully committed to the upliftment of the Gorkha community and is continuously making efforts for their development and welfare. Certainly, such events will help the new generation in preserving the traditions of the Gorkha community and remembering the bravery and sacrifice of their ancestors.
