New Delhi: Coldplay fans are in for bittersweet news. The iconic British band, fronted by Chris Martin, has officially announced its retirement after the release of their 12th studio album. Coldplay, who are currently set to release their 10th album, Moon Music, on October 4, revealed plans to wrap up their musical journey with just two more albums. This announcement comes as Coldplay is gearing up for their much-anticipated concerts in Mumbai in January 2025.

Chris Martin shared the details in a recent interview with Apple Music 1, where he confirmed the band’s decision to limit their albums to 12. “We are only going to do 12 proper albums, and that’s real,” Martin explained. He highlighted that this decision keeps the band’s “quality control” high. “Where we could be coasting, we’re trying to improve,” he added, comparing their legacy to cultural giants like Harry Potter and The Beatles.
Coldplay’s retirement doesn’t mean the end of their collaboration, though. Chris emphasised that the members—Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion—will continue to work together on various projects outside of making albums. For now, fans are savouring every moment of their last few releases.
Coldplay Mumbai concert tickets
Meanwhile, Coldplay’s upcoming Mumbai concert has been making waves, but not all for the right reasons. Fans eagerly awaited tickets for their shows in January 2025, but disappointment struck when the tickets sold out within minutes. Soon after, tickets appeared on the black market, being resold at sky-high prices. This led to a major investigation, with Mumbai Police’s Economic Offenses Wing summoning Ashish Hemrajani, CEO of BookMyShow, over allegations of a ticketing scam. The company’s technical head was also called for questioning, as complaints of fake tickets circulated.
The investigation stems from a complaint by advocate Amit Vyas, who accused BookMyShow of enabling black marketing through scalpers and third-party websites. Although the platform has denied any involvement in such activities, the Mumbai Police is set to further probe the matter, calling Hemrajani for another round of questioning.

Fans remain hopeful that the controversy will not affect the band’s January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, shows at Mumbai’s D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium. Initially, only two shows were scheduled, but due to high demand, a third one was added.
