Controversy again on the post of Karnataka CM: Close to Deputy CM Shivkumar
The inner tussle over the post of Chief Minister in Karnataka Congress has intensified. Meanwhile, Congress leader and Karnataka in -charge Randeep Singh Surjewala has visited Bengaluru and is holding a continuous meeting with party MLAs.
Iqbal Hussain, a close MLA to Deputy CM DK Shivkumar, claimed that around 100 MLAs were in favor of changing the Chief Minister. If there is no change now, then the Congress will not win the 2028 election. Hussain said in a conversation with NDTV,
In fact, DK Shivkumar played an important role in the Congress’s big victory in the 2023 assembly elections. Then he was a strong contender for the post of Chief Minister, but at the behest of the party high command, he accepted the responsibility of Deputy CM and State President.
At that time, the matter of rotational CM formula was also revealed, but it never got public approval. Now once again this issue has come to the surface openly.
Surjewala said- only imagination of change of leadership in the state
Randeep Surjewala reached Bangalore on Monday. Their visit is being linked to the increasing cracks between CM and Deputy CM. However, he rejected these speculations and described his visit as “organizational review”. He called the media about the change of leadership. Siddaramaiah also spoke to the media in Mysore and said that the government will last five years like ‘Bande’.
Kharge said- High command will decide to change CM in Karnataka
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday, ‘This decision (changing CM) is completely in the hands of the high command. Nobody can say what is going on in the high command’s mind. It is their right to take a decision, but unnecessarily no one should cause any problem about this issue.
Actually, on Sunday, Karnataka Congress MLA H.A. Iqbal Hussain had said that Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar may get a chance to become the Chief Minister of the state in the coming two-three months. Since then, speculation of changing CM started in Karnataka.
BJP asked- If you are not a high command
Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka R Ashok asked on Monday, ‘Dear Kharge ji, if you are not a high command, who are, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi or it is an invisible committee of a surname. The president in the Congress is only for showing, while the decisions are taken behind the doors closed in 10 Janpath.
