New Delhi, 30 April (Hindustan Times). Congress party has appointed Punjab in-charge Devendra Yadav as the working president of Delhi state unit. Along with the charge of Punjab, the party president has given him this new responsibility in Delhi. The post of State President had become vacant due to the resignation of Arvinder Singh Lovely.

Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal has issued a release regarding making him the working president. Devendra Yadav is receiving congratulations on social media from party leaders on being made the working president.

It is noteworthy that Arvinder Singh Lovely had resigned on Sunday expressing his displeasure over the alliance with Aam Aadmi Party, the behavior of the party's two Lok Sabha candidates and state in-charge Deepak Bawariya. His resignation was accepted by the party on the same day.

Congress is contesting the Lok Sabha elections in the state in alliance with AAP. Devendra Yadav has been MLA from Badli Assembly seat from 2008 to 2013. He is also a member of the Screening Committee of Congress.
