Director of Social Welfare inaugurated the sports competition, students from 84 schools of the state are participating
Lucknow, 01 December (HS). Social Welfare Director Kumar Prashant inaugurated the three-day state level sports competition of Sarvedaya Vidyalayas which started at KD Singh Babu Stadium in Lucknow. At the opening ceremony, he got introduced to the players and inaugurated the Games by releasing balloons. On the first day, race, kabaddi and volleyball competitions were held in boys and girls categories, in which the players performed excellently.
It was worth seeing the zeal and enthusiasm among the students during the sports competition of Jaiprakash Narayan Sarvadaya Vidyalayas, run by the Social Welfare Department. Six zones for boys have been created in the competition, which include Agra, Meerut, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, Gorakhpur and Lucknow divisions. Similarly, 4 zones for girls include Bareilly, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur and Lucknow divisions.
Along with 100, 200 and 400 meter races in the boys’ category, Kabaddi and volleyball competitions in the girls’ category attracted the attention of the spectators. Kumar Prashant, Director, Social Welfare Department, while stressing on the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork, said that sports are not only a medium for physical development but also develop self-confidence and leadership abilities.
Special arrangements have been made for accommodation and food for the players and team managers during the competition. This event is a commendable initiative by the Social Welfare Department for the all-round development of the students. In the next two days, exciting matches of sports like long jump, high jump, javelin throw and badminton will be organized. During the organization of the competition, Joint Director of Social Welfare Department, RK Singh, Deputy Directors, Jairam and Amarjeet Singh along with the teams, teachers of Sarvadaya Vidyalayas, team managers etc. were present.
