Why are garlic prices increasing?
The rising prices of pulses, rice and onions have already ruined people's household budgets. In recent times, there has been a decline in the price of onion, but now due to the rise in the price of garlic, the household budget of common people is getting spoiled. According to media reports, there are two reasons behind the increase in garlic prices. Firstly, this time due to bad weather the garlic crop has suffered a lot. Its production has been adversely affected.
Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh are among the main garlic producing states. The unseasonal rain here has adversely affected the garlic crop. Along with this, the delay in harvesting of Kharif crop has also had a negative impact on the supply chain. Its effect is visible on the price of garlic.
How long will garlic prices continue to rise?
According to the report of Hindustan Times, traders believe that by the end of January, the price of garlic in the retail market may remain between Rs 250 to Rs 350 per kg. In such a situation, the common people are not going to get relief from the increased prices of garlic. Along with this, experts believe that some decline in prices can definitely be seen after January. But, it may take till March for the prices of garlic to come back to normal level.
