Ghaziabad: A six year-old girl was attacked by a German Shepherd dog at a residential complex in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, neigbouring Delhi. The incident took place at Ajnara Integrity Society A horrifying video of the incident that took place on Wednesday has gone viral on social media platforms.

In the clip, the dog, despite being restrained by a leash, can be seen charging at a girl riding her bicycle within the apartment premises. The dog then bites the girl’s arm as its owners tries to control it, CCTV footage of the incident showed. Upon seeing this, the girl’s mother swiftly comes to her rescue and tries to scare the dog away with the help of a security guard. Many children were seen walking and riding bicycle around inside the housing society where the incident took place.

Police complaint filed

A police complaint has been registered in the matter based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, Namita Chauhan who alleged that the dog was not wearing a muzzle when it attacked her daughter. She also alleged in her complaint that the dog also attacked her one-year-old son. She sought strict action in the matter and also demanded that the dog be not allowed in the society premises, for the safety of the residents.

The recent incident of dog attack comes days after a 15-year-old boy was brutally attacked by a neighbour’s Pit Bull in Ghaziabad. The boy suffered serious injuries in the incident. Earlier in January, a house help was seriously injured after she was attacked by a German Shepherd dog at a housing society in Noida. Last month, the Central government directed states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 breeds of ferocious dogs, including Pit bull Terrier, American Bulldog, Rottweiler and Mastiffs, amid rampant incidents of pet dog attacks.
