Government allowed cab companies to recover double the fare of Aadhaar price in busy time
Cab companies news: The Ministry of Road Transport has allowed cab service companies such as Uber, Ola and Rapido to collect fare up to double the base price during ‘peak hours’ during ‘peak hours’. So far it is one and a half times. The fare for non -busy time should be a minimum of 50 percent of the base price.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has said in its’ Motor Vehicles Agriculture Guidelines-2025 ‘that’ the aggregator will be allowed to take a minimum of 50 percent less rent and maximum doubling pricing. In addition, the fixed base fare will be for minimum 3 kilometers so that ‘dead mileage’ can be compensated. This includes the distance covered without a passenger, the travel distance and fuel used to take the passenger.
According to the guidelines, the fare notified by the state government for the respective category or category of motor vehicle, the Aadhaar fare for passengers receiving services from the aggregator. States have been advised to adopt the revised guidelines within 3 months. In the case of cab cancellation, if the cancellation, without a valid cause by the aggregator, the driver will be fined 10 percent of the fare, which would not exceed Rs 100. The guidelines stated that the Central Government will develop and nominate a portal of a single-window clearance of application for license as an aggregator. It said that the license fee payable by the aggregator will be Rs 5 lakh and will be valid for a period of 5 years from the date of issuance of the license. The aggregator has to ensure that the driver (drivers) have health insurance of at least Rs 5 lakh and a ‘term’ insurance of Rs 10 lakh. The guidelines have also been specified that a complaint officer will be appointed by the aggregator.
According to the guidelines that the aggregator should not include vehicles that have been registered for more than eight years from the date of initial registration and should ensure that all the vehicles incorporated by it should not be registered for more than eight years from the date of initial registration.
Instructions to ensure the installation of VLTD: To ensure the safety of passengers, the aggregators have been instructed to ensure the installation of ‘vehicle location and tracking equipment’ (VLTD) in the vehicle. This device should be active all the time. In addition, the cab aggregator must ensure that the driver follows the path described in the app through ‘In-Bilt Mechanism’. If the cab driver does not do so, the app will indicate the control room, which will immediately contact the driver and the passenger.
According to the guidelines, the aggregator will have to set up a call center with an active telephone number and e-mail address, which will be clearly displayed on its website and app, which will be in 24 hours and all day operations and will provide assistance in English as well as the official language of the state.
The guidelines states that the aggregator must compulsorily follow the targets set to include an electric vehicle in their fleet. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued ‘Motor Vehicles Agricultural Guidelines 2020’ in 2020 under Section 93 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Since 2020, India’s shared traffic system has been rapid and significant changes. The increase in demand for diverse and flexible traffic solutions, including shared use of bikes, electric vehicles (EVs) and three rides, has made the consumer base wider.
