GST collection reduced on monthly basis
Karthik Mani, indirect tax partner of BDO India, said that if we look at the data on monthly basis, the net GST collection of June this year has decreased by 8.48 percent. During this period, the domestic market and imports led to a decline in collections. He said that on the 8th year of implementation of GST, it is expected that such a slow increase in the collection on an annual basis is just an exception and in the coming months the GST collection will return to the path of normal increase.
GST collection reduced in these states
In June, big states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu recorded an increase between 4-8 percent in the collection. While other states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat have seen a decline between 1-4 percent. Some states like Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand recorded an average increase of 10 percent. According to Vivek Jalan, partner of tax connect advisory, after the increase of more than two lakh crore GST revenue and double digit in two consecutive months, the collection of Rs 1.85 lakh crore seems slightly lower in June 2025. He said that this year in GST, 11.8 percent increase so far seems to be in good condition amidst global turmoil.
